The Many Uses of Neon Strip Lights

The Many Uses of Neon Strip Lights

Neon strip lights are a great way to add a unique and eye-catching lighting design. They can be used in a wide variety of applications and settings, from home decor to retail displays.

Different types of neon LED strips are available on the market, including silicone and PU. Here’s a comparison of these two options to help you decide which is right for your project.

Flexible Neon Lights

Flexible LED neon lights offer an excellent alternative to traditional glass neon lamps. LEDs are much more durable, shatterproof, and consume significantly less power. They also feature a uniform glow that can be shaped into stunning curves and precise straight lines. These features make them perfect for a variety of applications where distinctive and fanciful lighting is desired.

LED neon strips are usually encased in a silicone, polyurethane, or PVC resin that completely protects them from water and other contaminants. They’re also fully dimmable and able to produce any color. These characteristics make them suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

In addition to their durability, these strip lights are designed to produce a wide 160-degree beam angle that creates an elegant, lustrous line of light. This makes them ideal for use in signs, retail stores, bars, restaurants, and other commercial spaces.

There are two main types of LED neon strip lights available: analog and digital. Analog LEDs are controlled with a single controller and only react to control signals in one way. Digital LEDs, on the other hand, offer a more sophisticated experience with DMX-based RGB or tunable white color mixing and deeper dimming capabilities.

Whether you’re looking for an analog or a digital LED neon strip, you can choose from a variety of lengths and colors to suit your needs. These lights are easy to install, shatterproof, and offer a number of other advantages over traditional neon lights.

Addressable LED Neon Lights

Addressable LED neon lights offer the power and control of color changing lighting in a flexible strip or rope form. They are a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality, offering transformative value for a range of applications from interior design to special effects.

Compared to ordinary LED strips, addressable RGB LED neon light strips contain a single control point per group of seven LED pixels. This allows each individual LED to be controlled independently, allowing for dynamic chasing and pre-programmed sequences. They are also more durable than conventional neon lights.

These LED neon lights are ideal for perimeter lighting, highlighting signs and logos or creating silhouettes or outlines. They can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments and are able to resist water, heat and UV radiation. They are also a great choice for illumination of architectural Neon Strip Company features and landscapes, as well as in retail displays and bars and restaurants.

Available in a range of colors, these LED neon lights are easy to install and can be cut to your required length using shears designed for the purpose. They run on DC12 or 24V and can be run up to 10 m powered from either end, or 20 m when both ends are connected. They can be controlled using a standard DMX lighting controller. These LEDs are a great choice for artistic and creative installations, enabling artists to create illuminated sculptures and other artworks with ease.

While traditional glass neon tubes were once the popular choice for illuminated signs and displays, LEDs offer a safer, more energy efficient alternative. LED neon flex offers the same vibrant, eye-catching glow and is available in a much wider range of colors, styles, and fonts than traditional neon, and it can be cut to any length needed to create a custom sign or display.

LED neon flex is also significantly more durable and versatile than its predecessor, making it ideal for long-run linear applications. Its low-profile, flexible design makes it easy to conceal and use in tight spaces, while its versatile RGB color-changing capabilities make it a great option for outlining structures or creating unique signage.

We carry a large selection of LED neon flex to meet your needs, including 12V single-color options and 120 Volt RGB Neon Rope lights that can be daisy chained together for longer runs. These are typically thicker with a more robust round lighted area that most closely resembles traditional neon. They are best suited for outlines and larger, less detailed designs.

For a budget-friendly option that is also incredibly easy to use we recommend the Govee 12V strip. This kit includes a power supply, controller, mounting hardware, and an app that makes the process of installing, programming, and controlling it incredibly simple. The strip itself is a little thin, but it has a near perfect spotless effect and good color saturation. Next up for $50 is the Superlighting 24V RGBW COB LED strip. This strip uses separate white LEDs for each segment, resulting in a cleaner looking white light. When sent to full brightness, this strip has only 0.2V of voltage drop along the length of the strip and 0.8V when all the white LEDs are at maximum brightness, an outstanding performance for a COB LED strip!

LED neon strips offer a modern, energy-efficient alternative to traditional glass tube neon lights. They are flexible, easy to cut, and can be used in a variety of applications. They are a popular option for restaurant lighting, bar and club lighting, landscape lighting, retail store lighting, architectural border lighting, and signs.

LEDs are much more durable than traditional neon and can be installed in a wider range of environments, including outside. They also require less maintenance and are more energy efficient. They are also a safer alternative because they don’t contain dangerous gases like mercury. However, they may not provide the same effervescent glow as traditional neon.

To make a custom LED neon strip light sign, first choose the text or shape you would like to create. Sketch the design on paper, and Custom Bedroom Neon Sign then use it as a template for cutting out your neon strip. Carefully cut the strip light along the outline of your design, using scissors.

I tested a number of different LED strip neon lights for this article, and the Govee 12V was my favorite. It comes with a power supply, controller, and mounting hardware, making it very easy to install. The Lamomo 12V strip was a close second, and it is very inexpensive. However, it didn’t have a power injection on the end, so it lost color accuracy near the end of the strip.
